The Telangana officials said TS govt that it was not possible to acquire land for current irrigation projects until the new Land Acquisition Bill which was passed recently by the Assembly becomes an Act.
Irrigation minister T Harish Rao conducted a meet with top officials of the Irrigation department on Sunday eve. The meeting was attended by advocate general K. Ramakrishna Reddy, law secretary A. Santosh Reddy and special chief secretary Revenue department M.G. Gopal.
High Court’s had ruled out recent order on the 'land acquisition GO' by Telangana Government, Mr Harish Rao held talks with officials to identify various other methods to acquire land for irrigation projects. Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has sent Land Acquisition Bill to President Pranab Mukherjee for approval.
Officials believe that if necessary, CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao might visit New Delhi to meet President Pranab Mukherjee and explain about the Bill. However, the Chief Minister’s Office said as of now, there was no such proposal.
